Sometimes having to drive 45 mins. to work isn’t so bad. I have the advantage where the drive is filled with natural beauty and surprises. Yes, I get the occasional road-rage mishaps and bumper-to-bumper traffic at 5:00, but I won’t complain.

I always look forward to crossing over the bridges at Lake Norman. The shore is scattered with lovely homes and normally you’ll catch a glimpse of a sail boat or jet ski. The lake is large so when the water is calm it truly looks like glass with reflections of the sun, clouds, ducks and the tree lined shore.
One of my favorite spots, as you cross over one of the bridges, if you look out into the water you’ll see an American Flag mounted on a small portion of extruding rocks off shore. It’s been there for years and I have no idea who went to the trouble of installing it. I’ve noticed when the flag gets tattered it magically is replaced with a new one. Who is this patriot that loves our flag and wants to share it with others? I will probably never know but I do love it.
There are so many good people, patriotic people, loving and caring people in our world. Why do we tend to only concentrate on the bad ones?
Thank you Mr. Flag Man! …… and God Bless America!
