My Story
I am a wife, mother, grandmother and busy lady. I was born needing to be creative and I found myself in professions that allowed me to express and use my God given talents. It also provided me with a schedule where I could be involved with my son and daughter’ lives. Whether I was pursuing my ideas through my own business as an interior designer, or working alongside my husband building beautiful homes, I found teaching and writing was always a passion and whether it was design classes or bible studies I loved the preparation and study.

PURE AND CLEAN...........
While riding on a mountain road in Vermont where the homes were few-and-far-between. In the distance we saw a lady walking up the road toward us, it seemed unusual since the last house we had passed was probably half a mile away. Even more odd was the fact that she was carry a tea kettle. Now she wasn’t a backwoods farm girl but a polished middle-aged woman with a good haircut, Patagonia jacket, fitted jeans and a copper tea kettle… hey, I’m a woman and I do notice these things.
After passing her we were talking about where she might have been coming from when I saw on the side of the road an interesting invention. There was a pipe coming out of the side of the hill. From it pure, fresh, mountain spring water was dripping into a positioned wine barrel. We had to stop and take pictures. The water in the barrel was perfectly clear. Now, I’m not one to drink from a pipe coming out of a hill but it was intriguing and I’m sure that the woman had come down to the barrel to get mountain spring water for her tea. The fact that it was so pure and clean was worth her walk.
I thought how being “pure and clean” is a wonderful virtue and should be worth the journey…..
(Matt. 5:8) ……While Jesus’ was preaching up on the mountain He said….. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”.
The Bible uses the word heart to refer to our emotion and another word for pure is holy. I must say I can’t describe most of my emotions as being pure (holy). The Lord does not look at the things people look at. We look at the Patagonia jackets and copper tea kettles, but the Lord looks at the heart.
I think, even though the road might be hard, it’s worth the journey to obtain purity of heart so that as the scripture says, we can see God. Apparently, it was worth it to the lady to hike half-a-mile for her pure mountain spring water.

LOOK REALLY CLOSE……….. 🔎👓
I’ve always loved seeing fabric patterns and unique designs on handmade intricate quilts. I decided if I were ever near Lowell, Mass. I would take time to go through the New England Quilt Museum. My kids couldn’t believe that was on my bucket list and it was preceded often times by the look on their faces that said “boring”, but let me tell you……………
While on a trip to New England my sweet husband took a detour so that I could tour the museum and the quilts displayed. Believe me, it was worth it. It was truly an experience where you left with an appreciation for the history and hours of work that went into each quilt. The detail was spectacular, you could feel the passion of the fabric artist coming through each piece. They even had some pieces from the 1800s.
One such piece caught my eye. There was a huge black and white quilt that resembled a polar bear. From a distance you could tell the detailed workmanship and precise movement of the stitches, within the fabrics, created the shapes and shadows that when put together became a polar bear. The fascination came when you got close to the quilt you realized it was made of laces. Large and tiny pieces of lace in color variations of white and neutral. It was a perfect example of things becoming clearer the closer you got to the quilt and the closer you looked. ✨✨
I see this everyday in our society. All the glitz and glamor that the “beautiful people” on TV and social media portray. But I’m sure that if you started looking closer and closer you would see that things aren’t as they appear from a distance. Just like Mr. Polar Bear, what he truly was made of was much different from how he appeared from a distance. We owe it to ourselves to LOOK REALLY CLOSE.
(Romans 6:23)…”Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Oh, and by the way, the museum was so amazing my husband even liked it, and he racked up some major brownie-points for taking me on this detour.

YOU ARE SPECIAL TOO ME………..
We all have different ways that we show others they are special to us. Maybe it’s a phone call just to say “Hello I’m just checking in”, or maybe a gift for no special occasion “…Just saw this and thought of you”, or maybe it’s just that extra-long hug.
I find my solitude when I’m creating and making things. One of my passions is creating hand-made cards each of which are designed with particular people or occasions in mind. This is my special way to let others know that they are special to me and are in my thoughts.
In our fast-paced world where casual interactions have become the norm and we keep in touch through Facebook, evites and texting. I have to believe that getting a text saying “Feel better soon” or getting a handmade card that says the same thing, creates a different emotion. I’d like to think it says YOU ARE SPECIAL TO ME.❤️

PRIORITIES…………….
I’ve been thinking about PRIORITIES lately mostly because my to-do list is out here living its own life.
I’m a big list maker. I make a list… then I make another list to break down the first list. Sounds organized, right? Bless it. The truth is my list is longer than the hours in my day and somehow still doesn’t include washing clothes, cooking supper, or doing the dishes — because those are just part of survival. 😅
At this season of life, I really want to make sure I’m doing what matters most in my 24 hours. But between responsibilities, good intentions, and everyday life, I’m constantly trying to find common ground.
I keep coming back to this reminder in Scripture where Mary stopped what she was doing as she and her sister Martha prepared to host Jesus in their home.........“But few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42)
Only one thing and that was to sit at Jesus’ feet and absorb all He had to say. She couldn’t do all the things on her list but she knew what took PRIORITY.
So here I am — still making lists and still trying to figure it out — but I’m trying to remember that choosing what matters most is more important than checking every box. Now if someone could tell me which one thing comes before the dishes, I’d really appreciate it. 😉💛
