“Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound…”

Isn’t it wonderful how the popularity of this song has grown over the years? It has been sung in so many different genres. I cannot count the number of funerals I’ve attended where these words comforted family and friends. Movies and soundtracks have used this song hundreds of times. During the Vietnam War, the song became popular among secular groups when recorded by Joan Baez. Both believers and non-believers have sung the hymn and felt their emotions rise.

Amazing Grace

Maybe it’s because we all need a little “grace” in our lives. A free gift of forgiveness given by someone when we’ve failed. The gift of a second chance. Sometimes our wrong actions hurt and damage others, but when true “grace” is given, it really is “amazing”, and the sweet, sweet sounds we hear are words like “I’m Sorry,” “Thank You,” “Forgive Me”…

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – “The song “Amazing Grace” has endured for more than two centuries, offering hope to those grieving or searching for meaning to life. With its simple melody and message of salvation, “Amazing Grace” is a global music sensation.”
