Who Is Your Person?

HomeBlogWho Is Your Person?

Who Is Your Person? Who is the person that knows something is wrong even when you say, “I’m fine”? Who is the person that you go to with good news and bad news? Who do you go to for advice knowing they have your best interest at heart? We all need someone we can count on.

Today, in our hectic lives, we often get caught up in the whirlwind of life and we struggle to stay on track. You can’t see a solution in sight but then “Your Person” steps into the scene with words of clarity. Just what you needed to hear. Just the direction you need to go.

I’m reminded of the story of Jethro in the Bible. An unfamiliar story, but a wonderful example of how a person can step in and help you see things in a different light. In Exodus 18, Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, sees Moses spending long hours each day judging disputes among the Israelites as their leader. Everyone is coming to Moses for instruction, problem-solving, and guidance, which leaves him exhausted. Moses listens to Jethro’s advice because he knew that it was given in love. Jethro helps him create a manageable workload by delegating jobs to others, which gives Moses’ life more balance and rest. Jethro is “Moses’ Person”.

This is a reminder that trying to do everything yourself can lead to burnout and inefficiency. It also reminds us of the importance of having people in our lives that have our best interest at heart. Hold on to “Your People,” and they will hold on to you.
