We have a friend whose daughter’s name is Tabitha. I must admit the first time I saw the name in scripture I thought “that doesn’t sound like a bible name to me” but I soon found out that Tabitha in the Bible was a Rock Star.
This Tabitha lived near the modern city Tel Aviv and had a ministry where she sewed and made clothes for the widows in her community. These were beautiful handmade garments. She opened her home and heart to the widows and cared for them both physically and emotionally. When Tabitha died there was such an outpouring of grief from these ladies, they sent for Peter to pray and bring her back to life and that’s exactly what happened.
We’ve all known Tabitha’s, those people who are on a mission to help others. There’s room for everyone to share and care.
