I saw this picture and felt uplifted. Have you ever thought about the jester of raising your hands, how that single action says so much to those around you?

My mind began to wander and I soon realized my list was long as to why raising your hand, or hands, is so prevalent today. Here’s my list and I’m sure you can add to it. The similarity I see in most of these demonstrates respect, honor or acknowledgment.
Hands are raised ……..
*When people surrender or when we wave and salute
*When you give a high-five
*In court you raise your right hand when sworn-in or when taking an oath, we’ve heard the phrase “All-in-favor raise your right hand” or “Can I see a show of hands.”
*Many raise their hands in worship, In the bible the Israelites raised both hands when praying we are even told that Jesus was crucified with His hands raised
*A student will raise their hand in class to be acknowledged,
*We cheer and raise our hands at ballgames and concerts
*The Statue of Liberty stands with a raised hand,
*We even have an emoji with raised hands.
And who can forget the account in (Exodus 17:8-16) where Moses told Joshua to go to war with Amalek, then Moses, Aaron and Hur climbed up the mountain to watch the battle. As long as Moses held up his arms and staff then Joshua’s men continued winning but poor old Moses got tired and dropped his arms, the advantage turned to the enemy…so…Aaron and Hur sat Moses down on a rock and they held up his hands into the air and the battle was won.
This is what friends are for. Who do you have in your life that will hold you up when you can’t hold on any longer? Are you that type of friend? Can I put a Raised-Hand Emoji beside your name?
Next time you raise your hands be mindful of the importance of this act. Inspired2Share ? #raisedhands
