I must have heard and read this scripture over the years a hundred times. I loved it, it was like my genie-in-a-bottle verse but I only focused on the last part of the scripture. (……He will give you the desires of your heart). Ok then, I desire a new computer, and a new car, and a long vacation…etc. Then my eyes were opened to what the verse was really saying. “Delight yourself in the Lord and (The Promise….) He will give you the desires of your heart.” Eye-opening to know that the Lord will give us the things we should desire, not desires we come up with but what He thinks is best for us, all we have to do is delight in Him.
How do we delight in the Lord, we give Him gratitude and bring Him joy. Who knows, maybe it will be a vacation, or maybe not, either way when we follow the Lord’s lead in our life we will be blessed.
Sitting on my front porch I took this sunset picture. I was sitting there thinking of things that I needed (or desired) for the house. My list was pretty long and superficial.
Take some time and think what God’s desires might be for you.
