My memories of Small Towns are Main Streets with Mom & Pop restaurants, gift shops and general stores. A place where shop owners know each other’s names and residents linger on the sidewalks….. What Small Town comes to your mind?

A walk around Mooresville, NC is one of my favorite things to do. From the small boutiques to the bakery and the Veteran’s Memorial Park. One of my favorite spots is the drive-through burger joint Bucko’s. Why the big moose out front, I don’t know, but a true landmark in Mooresville with great burgers and hotdogs.

I’ll always remember being in the drive-through and seeing the owner carry out a birthday cake and place it in front of an older man as he sat at a table outside eating. I couldn’t hear the conversation, but his expression was priceless. I asked the cashier what was going on and she told me that the man was a longtime customer, and it was his 90th birthday. They wanted to surprise him. Now that’s Small Town Charm.

Let’s slow down and take in the goodness and happiness around us. I know it made my day just seeing this act of kindness.
